What is wage theft and what can I recover?
Answer
Wage theft includes any underpayment of wages — unpaid overtime, missed break premiums, minimum wage violations, unlawful deductions, late final paychecks, and expense reimbursement failures. In California, you can recover unpaid wages, interest, liquidated damages, civil penalties, and attorney fees. PAGA allows recovery of additional civil penalties.
