What is the interactive process for disability accommodations?

When you disclose a disability and request accommodation, your employer must engage in a good-faith "interactive process" — a back-and-forth dialogue to identify and implement reasonable accommodations. The employer cannot simply refuse without exploring options. Common accommodations include remote work, modified schedules, assistive equipment, and reassignment. Failing to engage in the interactive process is itself a FEHA violation.
