FEHA (Fair Employment and Housing Act, Gov. Code §12940) is California's primary anti-discrimination law. It protects employees from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, age (40+), disability, religion, marital status, pregnancy, military status, and other characteristics. It covers employers with 5 or more employees — broader than federal law.
