Can I take medical leave for my own health condition in California?

Answer

Yes. Both CFRA and FMLA allow leave for your own serious health condition. FEHA also requires reasonable accommodation, which can include extended leave beyond the CFRA/FMLA 12-week entitlement. California State Disability Insurance (SDI) may provide partial wage replacement during leave. Employers cannot fire or demote you for taking protected medical leave.
